DISCOVER YOUR HAIR TYPE

I feel so relaxed and in that mode, I want to quickly brief you about natural hair types.
In caring for your hair some pieces of information are vital. These will help you make informed decisions concerning products, manipulation techniques and many more.
Natural hair comes mainly in 4 types. Types 1, 2, 3, 4.
TYPE 1 hair is straight hair. It is not easily damaged because sebum (an oily secretion from the sebaceous gland) travels down to its roots easily. It is usually oily and greasy.
TYPE 2 hair is the Wavy hair type. It is kind of in between straight and curly hair in terms of texture and sheen.
TYPE 3 hair is popularly referred to as Curly hair. It is voluminous and mostly climate dependent. Its pattern resembles an 'S' shape.
TYPE 4 hair is mostly common in Africa or lets say amongst Africans. It is referred to as Coily or Kinky hair. It has no curl pattern like type 2 and 3 and is the most fragile to handle. Each of these hair types have subsets A, B, C as shown in the images. Type 4C is the most fragile and prone to breakage. This is not to scare you really because all the types may break off if poorly cared for.
Another thing worthy of note is that it is common to find people with more than one type of hair on their head. I in particular have type 4C in the front and middle section of my hair but suprisingly, at the back, I have this loosely coiled 4B.
I easily noticed this because while the front is densely packed and difficult to manipulate (and comb as I used to), the back is a lot easier to handle.
It never disappoints me. I found out after washing and detangling it one day, it had these bouncy coils.
Find below a summary of all the hair types combined and let me know which category your hair falls. As we proceed, we would begin to learn about how best to care for our fro.
Did I mention that if you don't love your hair, it would always be sick. Yes, Sick!! It responds well to love and tenderness just as it does to hatred and inconsistency.
If you happen to still be confused about how to check your hair type, simply check a newly washed strand of hair against the chat above. It should automatically point you in the right direction.
Till next time, I remain yours sincerely
