LEAVE YOUR SHOES AND FLEE

Have you ever been in a life threatening situation where you had to run for your dear life? Can you imagine someone trying to put her shoes on before escaping from seeming danger when the next moment is completely uncertain? That is a very unwise decision and in the words of my friends "who shoe epp?"

There is a scenario in the bible where the word FLEE is used. It is found in II Timothy 2: 22. It says to the young man and woman with a glorious dream 'Flee also youthful lust'.

If you have accidentally entered a house and a hungry dog immediately aims at you, you should understand the meaning of the word 'FLEE'.
It means don't stop to think. JUST RUN.

Don't check for your shoes just move AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

LUST is a not to common word in christian circles. People prefer to talk about sin and its consequences. We rarely hear that Lust is the mother of sin (James 1:14 - 15).

When a brother or sister sins, we are quick to judge the behavior without considering the underlying cause.

Lust is that dirty little secret we all hide under the garments of holiness. We name it our weakness. Our besetting sin. That which we fall into so easily. We indulge ourselves when no one is watching and somehow believe God understands that we are struggling to be holy.

I really do not think many people are free from this entanglement because I rarely hear testimonies of people who say "I used to struggle with lust before God delivered me. I used to masturbate despite being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit".

I wonder why Joshua the High Priest was cloth in a dirty garment despite his faithful worship in the temple.
Does that mean that our secret lives can hinder our eternal life? Imagine getting to the gates of the heavenly city and then you are stopped from entering because of that little sin in your heart.

How do we feed the serpent of lust?

By indulging in immoral thoughts. Fantasizing about other people sexually which would in turn give rise to intense desires that cannot be satisfied leaving you frustrated and dirty. The only person you entertain when you engage in this is the devil.

When those thoughts roam into your heart FLEE!
When you are in a secluded room with someone else FLEE!

Choose to expose your heart to the word of God today. Never hide under the bed-sheet or curtain because lust for one's self as well as the opposite sex will give birth to sin.

Don't think of any passage of scripture! Just FLEE!
