10 MOST IMPORTANT NATURAL HAIR TOOLS

The importance of good hair practices cannot be overemphasized on the journey to healthy, vibrant and thick head of hair. However, to achieve a stress free routine every time you touch your hair, the following tools will prove helpful.

1. Wide tooth comb: We all are familiar with the importance of combs but then the type of comb used matters too. It is more helpful if your comb is specially designed to treat your hair gently. That is the reason why the wide tooth comb is best. Be sure to choose one that wouldn't snap at your strands.

2. Spray bottle: Any naturalista without a spray bottle is not yet a complete naturalista. Moisture is an important component for hair and it is always good when you desire to spritz some water or conditoner into your curls.

3. Denman brush: I have found this to be more friendly to my curls than a comb. It simply glides through while evenly distributing products for better results.

4. Satin scarf/Bonnet: When going to bed at night it is necessary to protect your curls from becoming frizzy or dry. A satin scarf or bonnet comes in handy here. I personally prefer the bonnet because of the rubber band at the edges which keep the bonnet from falling off at night while I turn around on the bed. Choose what works for you.

5. Applicator bottle: To effectively oil your scalp during your massage routines, the applicator bottle helps you distribute the oils better.

6. Edge groomer / Old toothbrush: If you have fly away edges you will find this tool helpful. It helps you to sleek down the edges with a little dab of gel giving you that extra lovely look.

7. Bobby pins: Every woman needs bobby pins whether you are natural or not. They come in handy when you want to give a perfect finish to your hairstyle. They could even be the only tool for your wash and go depending on the style.

8. Afro picks: Tinnywinnyafro (TWA) will appreciate the afro pick as well as any other length. It simply helps you fluff out the kinks for a fuller look.

9. Scissors: Occasionally when a trim is necessary, a scissors is good. It does a good job of removing split ends when they show up.
10. Ponytail holders: Old and young women love to use ponytail holders to keep their hair in place daily. They come in many shapes, materials and sizes. I remember calling them hair ruffles back in the days

These and a few others are essentially the most important tools in your hair purse.
